Ecuador is leading the market with community participation tourism. There are over 40 touristic projects which main attraction is Ecuadorian culture. These projects are mostly located in the Andean region, especially where the biggest indigenous communities are settled (Imbabura, Cotopaxi, Chimborazo and Loja) and in the Amazon region with Quichua and Achuar nationalities.
